Welcome to a new school year. It has been a lovely to see all of the students settle into their routines, catch up with their friends, build new relationships and begin their new learning. Thank you to all of the parents and carers that have ensured that their students are at school and prepared for their learning.

Student enrolments are collected from Queensland state schools as part of the Day 8 and school staffing annual process that occurs in February. This helps to determine resourcing for every student with core allocations for centrally funded school-based positions, teaching supports, additional teacher aides and administrative staff, and supports for alternative services and programs. We use information from last year, and make predictions about student numbers to set up class groups, with consideration to all students and staff, ensuring that we continue to provide the best educational outcomes for all students. Unfortunately, our student numbers are down on previous years, at this stage there will not be any changes to classes.

The Queensland Government is introducing the Back to School Boost from 2026, which provides $100 for every primary school student (Prep to Year 6) to assist families with school-related costs. The funds can be applied to the cost of items or activities offered by the school. For example, at our school it could include Year 6 camp and senior shirts, class excursions, incursions and extracurricular activities, or special programs and activities offered by the school. A $100 credit will be applied to the student's school

account after enrolments are verified. We will be starting to use the QParents app as a way to communicate with families. QParents is a free and secure online application that enables Queensland state school parents to access and manage their student's information and complete schoolrelated administrative tasks. To start using QParents, visit qparents.qld.edu.au and follow the instructions, when registering for QParents, you will be asked to verify your identity. Once you have created your account, download the app on your preferred device. We will let you know when you can link your students to

your account. Using the QParents app, parents and carers will be able to view upcoming events, provide digital consent, make payments and view credit balances. Just a reminder, of our before and after school procedures. If your child is at school before 8am, please remind them to go straight to the office verandah with their bags. A staff member will get them and take them to the undercover area at 8am where they will be

supervised until the classrooms open. Students should be seated in the undercover area until the first bell goes at 8.20am. School starts at 8.25am. After school, students should leave the school grounds quickly and quietly, or head straight to outside hours school care. Please do not allow students to play in the school grounds before or after school. For the new families, please note that the staff carpark is not a drop off/ pick up point and should only be used for staff, deliveries and office appointments. Please don't hesitate to send me an email on kcons5@eq.edu.au or call the school to make an appointment to see me if you have any issues or concerns. You can also leave comments in our 'Community Voice' box in the office. I am looking forward to working with you all throughout 2026 to ensure that we continue to deliver excellence to every student at our school. Happy days!
