Obe Geia Rugby Challenge

Obe Geia rugby Challenge
Established in 2009 by the Cowboys, the Obe Geia Rugby Challenge is held on Palm Island each year to bring communities together and promote the importance of inclusion.
This year, the Cowboys asked if the event could be held on Magnetic Island instead. We were thrilled to say YES. Over 150 students from eleven schools competed. Palm Island school students stayed the night before, and the other eight schools packed the 7.05am ferry from town.
The day was a great success for everyone. The sunshine was warm, the grass a little green, and the resident school koala family made some very popular appearances. Play was fair and resulted in few injuries. Our team played well, winning one match, and our congratulations went to St Clare’s who won the overall trophy. The positive feedback that our school received was very much appreciated, and our huge thanks as always to all the volunteers who make these events happen.
