Pimlico Kingfisher Wind Ensemble playing with MISS band
What a wonderful experience it was last week when Pimlico Kingfisher Wind Ensemble came to work with our own band, presenting a concert just before lunch. Together the two bands performed two pieces, which were fun and challenging. The Pimlico students played some of their exciting music as well as demonstrating the different instruments in their band. This was especially important for the year 3s who are in the process of selecting their preference for learning an instrument in the band program next year.
Year 3 students have been given an instrument preference form, which some have already returned. This form is to help parents understand how the instrumental music program works and is the start of the process to ensure interested students can try out for an instrument. We work with the students to select an appropriate instrument, which takes in consideration their individual suitability as well as instruments that are available for loan. All forms need to be returned to the office this week to be considered for the program.
The band is currently preparing for the Island’s own Carols by Candlelight event being held on Dec 10th. This is a wonderful night of music, Christmas spirit and community. Hope you can join us!
